Hello! I'm Kendall
Kendall Smith joined WCBI in April of 2019 after previously working as an intern under the weather team. Originally from Kansas, she is currently an undergraduate student in Professional Meteorology with an emphasis in Broadcasting at Mississippi State University.
Kendall fell in love with weather at a young age when her extended family was hit by an EF-5 tornado in western Kansas. This experience reinforced her desire to learn more about atmospheric science. She started off at the University of Arkansas where she studied Broadcast Journalism. While in Arkansas, she interned with the weather and sports departments at KNWA & FOX 24 News. She then decided to pursue a degree in Broadcast Meteorology and transferred to Mississippi State in the fall of 2018. Kendall has enjoyed her time living in the Magnolia State and has been able to help cover multiple severe weather events in Northeast Mississippi and West Alabama with the WCBI Weather Team. Kendall is also a member of the East Mississippi Chapter of the American Meteorological Society and the National Weather Association.
In her free time, Kendall enjoys singing, dancing, working out and hanging out with family and friends. She also loves cheering for her Mississippi State and Kansas City sports teams. When Kendall is not in the studio, she loves getting to know the wonderful people of Northeast Mississippi and West Alabama. Her belief is that meteorologists should build the trust of their viewers and stay connected with their community!
